SALES AND MARKETING DIRECTOR

The Company: Sword & Plough is a socially responsible fashion company that incorporates military surplus into their products. The brand works with American manufacturers who employ veterans, and donates 10% of profits back to veteran organizations. This is a great position for someone with experience in sales, press relations, social media growth, and marketing, who is looking to get into a fast-growing start-up at a pivotal stage.

The Role: Sword & Plough is looking to hire an “all-around athlete” to manage and rapidly scale the company's wholesale revenue, press opportunities, and social media presence. The Sales and Marketing Director will work closely with the founding team to identify growth and revenue opportunities with relevant partners and execute upon those opportunities. This is the only sales and marketing position within our company, and the role brings with it opportunity for broad responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Growth

  + Ability to meet monthly and quarterly sales, press, and social media goals
  + Plan, execute, and expand our sales and wholesale strategy
  + Contact prospective wholesale partners and respond to inbound partnership inquiries
  + Manage the successful integration and launch of new partnerships

  + Organize and execute pop-up shops

Press Growth

  + Development and implementation of public relations strategies to support company goals and initiatives, helping to increase brand awareness
  + Pitch national and regional media placements across broadcast, print, online, and social media influencers
  + Develop and maintain relationships with editorial and digital influencer contacts
  + Develop press releases and media alerts

  + Develop and analyze innovative online marketing ideas

Social Media Growth

  + Create content and manage social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter

  + Perform day-to-day social media activities. Tasks include responding to fans and followers’ questions and comments, crafting new content, gathering content from others, community building efforts, online advocacy, promotions, etc.
  + Engage in community outreach to related groups, blogs, web sites and other industry influencers
  + Implement measurement tools and strategy to measure the impact of social media efforts. Analyze and share the results to improve and adapt social media strategies

    Qualification/Requirements:

      + Passionate about the company, its vision, and supporting veterans
      + Ability to focus on scaling sales, press relations, and social media presence, while also contributing to other areas within the start-up as necessary
      + 2+ years of experience in a similar role; scaling sales and developing new wholesale partners, finding and closing on TV, in-print, and online press, and increasing social media community presence
      + Strong editorial contacts within the broadcast, print and online space, as well as digital influencers in fashion, social entrepreneurship, and veteran spaces
      + Bachelor's degree; emphasis in sales, public relations, communications or marketing preferred
      + Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills required
      + Experience in a start-up environment a plus
      + Experience in retail a plus
      + Experience with Photoshop, Mailchimp, Facebook’s advertising platform, and Google Docs a plus
      + Social media advertising experience a plus
      + Strong knowledge of the celebrity and influencer landscape
      + Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and switch tasks fluidly
      + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited structure, without losing sight of broader vision
      + Results driven and customer focused

      Salary: Salary and commissioned based

      Job Location: Potential for remote location. Denver, NYC, LA, San Francisco, Boston or DC preferred.
