Emerge victorious; never f*cking quit

Over the years, I’ve been asked many times, what is the “one thing” that separates a successful pararescue / special operations candidate from someone who quits
-
My answer has always been the same
-
It’s not about being the strongest, the fastest, or the luckiest
-
It is the ability to find peace in extreme discomfort
-
To persevere and endure the fuckery, no matter how overwhelming it may be
-
Peace is an incredibly subjective term and state of mind
-
Only the individual knows his/her perception of inner peace
-
But, if they can go there, despite the compounding bullshit, they will emerge victorious
-
As a PJ, I found myself in remarkable states of discomfort
-
But my training and continued practice kept my edge sharp, my focus dialed, and my mind clear
-
This is the essence of a powerful yoga practice
-
We subject ourselves to relative discomfort, through movement, breath control, and/or stillness
-
In this discomfort, we find the nooks and crannies of our consciousness that we can find refuge in
-
If we are patient and practiced, we can take this yoga shit off the mat; to weather a special operations selection course and career, or to endure everyday life with grace and purpose
-
The practice is extremely personal; a ‘teacher’ is merely a guide
-
It’s up to us as individuals to explore our depths, our obstacles, our perception of discomfort, and from those dark spaces, to breathe in the ease and light
-
Push yourself
-
Subject yourself to the elements, control your breath, explore the intensity of a difficult and strong yoga practice, sweat, cry, breathe, and explore
-
Emerge victorious; never fucking quit
