Sky Stoke: Matt Gerdes Flies High in the Red Bull Aces Wingsuit Race

A CFF Stokesperson of the highest order, Matt Gerdes lives to take things to the next level. Over the weekend Matt, along with 40 men and women from 18 countries, participated in the Red Bull Aces Wingsuit Race.

The Redbull Aces event is nothing short of rad:

"It is the world’s first-ever wingsuit four-cross competition, with athletes racing four at a time through a one mile-long slalom course made of five 112-foot-long gates suspended thousands of feet in the air. Athletes jumped in heats of four from a civilian Bell Huey helicopter at an altitude of 8,000 feet above sea level, and weaved between the five gates positioned at descending levels between 6,500 feet and 3,500 feet."

This type of head-to-head competition allows the athletes to jockey for position and pushes the innovative tech of these suits to their limit. 

As newcomer to this event, Matt dominated the field placing 3rd and left the majority of the competition in his jet stream—proud of you, brother!
